Why should I use ARBSC?
Any and every edge that you can gain in the competitive market of home building in Alaska is something that all contractors are looking for.  With ARBSC’s program you can now advertise that your homes are held to the highest standards in the State of Alaska.  The inspections and ARBSC certification that your home will receive through the organization go above and beyond what the state of Alaska requires, and in addition the ARBSC inspectors are independently audited on a regular basis to assure that you’re receiving the most complete inspections available.

More importantly, however, contractors now have an avenue to pursue when there is a code related dispute with your inspector. ARBSC also offers arbitration services for contractors and inspectors when there is a disagreement over an issue tagged during an inspection.  This is greatly needed outside of city limits in our boroughs where there is no organization that can help contractors and inspectors with code related disputes.

With ARBSC’s program, contractors will have a code body with inspectors that have a unified interpretation of the code.  This means there will be no guess work for the contractor on what is acceptable and what is not since the same code can be interpreted a multitude of ways.

ARBSC will allow you to advertise that you build to the highest standard  in Alaska, and will also offer you much needed services of code dispute arbitration and a unified interpretation of the code outside of city limits.

How does the process work if I use ARBSC?
In general, once a job or home is signed up with ARBSC to be part of the program the contractor chooses an ARBSC certified inspector to perform the required inspections on the project. Upon completion of each inspection the inspector submits the inspection type and date completed to ARBSC to be posted for public view. If at any time the contractor and/or inspector need a variance on a code requirement because of a special circumstance or have a code-related dispute the ARBSC review panel will be able to arbitrate and make rulings on the code for the project. For more information about how the program works, please view the page 'How It Works'.

What are the costs if I use ARBSC?
The fees to enroll a job into the program is not set, however, it is slated to not exceed $150. ARBSC is a non-profit company that will use the fees collected from enrolled jobs to cover costs of web maintenance and posting of inspections preformed for individual jobs.
