Why should I insist on ARBSC inspections?
Homeowners can now rest assured that when they have a contractor build a home for them, it is being held to the highest standard in Alaska.  ARBSC offers a checks and balance system on building in Alaska, as ARBSC is acting as a check on the inspector that was hired by and for the contractor.  This independent body is there to make sure that the inspector is performing thorough and comprehensive inspections on the contractor's work.  This means the contractors work is held to a high standard by the inspector and the inspectors work is held to a high standard by ARBSC.  Having your home ARBSC certifed will help you in the future when trying to sell your home. Futuer buyers and mortgage companies will know that your home has met the standards set forth by ARBSC as well as AHFC. Future buyers will know that their contractor and inspector had their work indirectly reviewed by an independent thrid party - ARBSC. The other advantage of your home being part of the ARBSC program is that if the contractor and inspector have a code related dispute ARBSC offers arbitration services to resolve the issue without compromising the structure.  The homeowner is the real winner when a home is under the ARBSC program – a high quality building with its entire team of contractor and inspector working to make the home a safe and lasting structure.

How does the process work if I use ARBSC?
In general, once a job or home is signed up with ARBSC to be part of the program the contractor chooses an ARBSC certified inspector to perform the required inspections on the project. Upon completion of each inspection the inspector submits the inspection type and date completed to ARBSC to be posted for public view. If at any time the contractor and/or inspector have a code-related dispute the ARBSC review panel will be able to arbitrate and make rulings on the code for the project. For more information about how the program works, please view the page 'How It Works'.

What are the costs if I use ARBSC?
The fees for enrolling a home into this program are paid for by the contractor, there is no fee for the homeowner.
